If you login to your phone profile on a Touchpad, you can never restore your phone. I doctored my Pre+ due to lockup problems. My purchased apps do not restore because they are now part of the Touchpad profile. Palm tried to restore my profile back to my phone but it is lost to the Touchpad.
From chat with Palm

Joanne:
Bill, I am sorry the data has been converted to V2 and cannot be restored to a phone.
12:50 AM
Bill:
Is it not true that a phone and Touchpad can coexist with the same email profile?
12:51 AM
Joanne:
It's true. But as you've reset the phone using webOS doctor, the data cannot be restored onto the phone of V2 profile. Since the data saved on the palm server has been changed to V2 profile.
12:52 AM
Joanne:
This change was at the instant when you signed into the TouchPad.
12:52 AM
Joanne:
I am sorry, couldn't help to fix the issue. However is there anything else that I can help you with?
12:54 AM
Bill:
So a phone on the same profile as a Touchpad can never be reset without losing everything?
12:54 AM
Bill:
What's the point of having both on the same profile?
12:55 AM
Joanne:
Bill, its to restore the data onto the Touchpad.
12:57 AM
Bill:
Does anyone know this? None of the webOS blogs have warned against it.
12:57 AM
Joanne:
Bill, we do not have the information you're referring the blogs. However, the process is in this way.
12:58 AM
Joanne:
The V2 data cannot be restored onto a V1 data.
