Are other people's emails so urgent that a few minutes latency on routine stuff is a hardship? 
normally i would completely agree with that, but I only have a 500 text message limit and tend to send emails through @messaging.sprintpcs.com to save some texts if I'm running low. I like finding out when I get a text (which is actually an email in this case) right away.
