    It's a privacy tool, but not a requirement. On old phones & tablets VPN services could be used with an app. This may now need updating for tighter security requirements.

    Privacy and security are the basic needs of human whether physical or digital. Though, it can be ignored. But, it will cost you.
    Beside security, people use VPN for avoiding ISP throttling, download torrents, stream region locked shows or banned websites etc.
