Hello, from the last WebOS Legacy rookie.

I think there is no virtual keyboard compatible with WebOS 2.2.4 (Pre 2). Anyway, I would like you to confirm it to me, to know if I have done something wrong.

No virtual keyboard works in WebOS 2.2.4 (Pre 2)? Why?

There was apparently code in there, but it didn't work until webOS 3.0 on the Touchpad. The obvious reason is that there's a perfectly good H/W keyboard on the phone..?

There was an app called quick keys keyboard that worked OK. It sits at the bottom like a notification to be called up with a tap. IIRC, the problem was that it couldn't be closely tied into the system, so text had to be 'sent' to the app by pressing a button on the KB.

Well, actually if I remember right there's somewhere a patch to activate the hidden virtual keyboard on 2.2.4. But it's not recommended, since it can cause issues ( I think crashes if rotating, for sure ).
As Preemptive mentioned, the route with less troubles was a 3rd party app

I'm willing to try that patch (I'm curious). Can you give me more information? Where I download it? What is your name?

I will also test the Preemptive applications.

Lately I am very busy with my Palm. I did not think I was going to be so busy with her (I bought it months ago)!

I'm pretty sure it's in a thread on this forum, and a zip or such is added there, but right now i don't remember its name ( my name is Alessandro )

    "2. For webOS> = 2.2.0 (Pre 3 / Pre2 / Veer), I have made a new patch for this Here is Enabling Keyboard on Pre3.patch"

Is that patch really for Pre 2?

I have also tried with this other patch:

    "1. the" luna.conf.patch "for webOS <= 2.1.0 using this luna.conf.patch"

This patch yes I have been able to install it.

Unfortunately, I can not install the virtual keyboard application. How can I do it? In Preware it does not appear to me and WOSQI does not let me install the file.

The error that I read in WOSQI is the following:

    "Package dependencies not satisfied"

So this package relies on other packages to be installed. I think there is usually an offer to install those first, but perhaps those items are not available. Can you find what those dependencies are? Or can anyone advise where to find that info?

What VKB application are you referring to? Quick Keys?

Hello mate. I refer to this application:

    https://preware.pivotce.com/package/...creen-keyboard

    ---
It is the application of the following thread, right?

    https://forums.webosnation.com/webos...-keyboard.html

I installed the script and the patch, but the application can not install it.

I don't know, but the listing says: Compatibility: Not compatible with webOS above 1.9.9.

Virtual Keyboard is a generic term. I'm not sure if the built in one was ever stabilised to work with rotation...

    I plead ignorance!

The only one VKB I recall 'installing' to 2.2.4 was on the Pre3 (& Veer) and was a patch that simply activated an otherwise 'hidden' KB.

There was a further tweak to work-around the Rotation glitch.

Together they functioned well on the Pre3.
But there was no audio 'click' etc for key presses.

x2 Zips attached in case they are of any use to anyone anyhow.

Thank you very very much! I have managed to use the virtual keyboard in my Pre 2 with WebOS 2.2.4. I've been trying for a long time, but with your explanation and the files, I've got it on the first try.

Visually, it looks very good. It is somewhat difficult to manage, but it is because the mobile is very small.

The mobile restarts when using the virtual keyboard in the "Notes" application. However, in the web browser works fine.

    Achievement achieved!

I had to modify your instructions a bit (the patch for Pre 3 does not work in Pre 2):

    Files:
    https://forums.webosnation.com/attac...-vkb-1.1.6.zip
    https://forums.webosnation.com/attac..._0.2.0_all.zip
    https://forums.webosnation.com/attac...una.conf.patch

    1). Install:

    'luna.conf.patch'

via dragging to WOSQI window & click 'Install'.

    The phone will reboot.

    2). Using WOSQI 'Send File':

    Send 'VKB-1.1.6' file to '/ '

3). Using WOSQI 'Linux Command Line':

    A Pleasure!

So glad it helped you achieve! Well done!

Thanks for 'updating' work to suit Pre2.. hopefully this thread may now assist any others with the same mission to achieve.
