I was at a friend's house today where his password for his network is less than 8 characters. I know the best way of securing items is longer passwords, but it wasn't my place.

He has two advertised networks, one WPA, and one unsecured, but requires a login. On my Touchpad, the Sign In button wasn't active until the 8th character of the password was typed. I therefore couldn't attach to the network, and demonstrate the wonderful WebOS system.

Is this the way it's supposed to work? I could understand why a programmer would require creating a password of 8 or more characters, but I can't understand why it would be needed for the device attaching to a network.

Just tested mine, did the same thing, never noticed it before since never had such a short password.
