Based on the previous OTA updates, has anyone concluded how much danger we are in after altering these system files via root?

How do the OTA updates work - do they simply replace every file with a new one if a change is made to it (which would work out great for us - the hacks would be gone, but no problems to the system)

Do they act like the hacks we perform, telling the update to "go to line 1440" and add a bunch of code? Which could and would cause problems because usually these modifications change the amount of lines in the file, and change where the information is located.

    Any ideas/

The update is an ipk file just like applications, so it just performs an overwrite of files.

The last update didnt break any rooting or modifications, so this one shouldnt either.
