Pre makes Pretty videos. At least I'm quite fond of them for a year old phone. Problem I've ran into however is sending the videos via MMS. Far far too large for alot of carriers.. AT&T for example I believe the cutoff is 600k for a video. That's maybe 30 seconds at a very tiny resolution...

So, with my girlfriend's Go-Phone (AT&T) and my Palm Pre I've attempted to size down 30 second clips. Alas I am unable to send them. The error the Pre gives me when I attempt to send a converted file is

    "Unable to send message
Device is full. Delete files to clear space"

This happens if I attempt to send to *any* carrier. I've tried Verizon, AT&T (my girlfriend's Go-Phone and my work iPhone G3), and I've tried to send it to myself.

The file is 448k, plays fine locally in the Pre Video player, and I converted it on the Pre with the built in ffmpeg using the flags shown below. The original video is 1.68mb.

Interestingly I can MMS myself the 1.7mb (24 second) video file, although it takes a little while. When it arrives Sprint delivers a image that says "Video too large to view on this device". Being sent to another carrier (AT&T) fails with a text from Sprint saying the MMS exceeded the other carrier's size limitation and may not have been delivered

    ffmpeg -y -i CIMG0001.mp4 -r 20 -s 176x144 -b 100k -acodec libfaac -ac 1 -ar 8000 -ab 8k file.3gp

Question is, does anyone know a successful way to scale down the Pre videos to send properly to MMS video phones, in particular the older ones that require 173x144 resolution and below 600k in size.

Please note, I'm not looking for a "Just email them" workaround. I'd like to actually Text/MMS these videos. My goal is to get the video to go through the messaging app. Txt/MMS packages are bound togeather, Email/Data packages are extra to some of the people I'd like to Txt, so it has to go via MMS.

--P.S. I'm aware my name isn't blurred. Its public info, and already in my Phone App patch
