Went through the webos internals accessing linux tutorial. Evereything works I CAN SSH TO IT. But i am not able to write to it. I log in using the user I created during the dropbear process.

What do I have to do to gain full access read/write?

    mount -o remount,rw /

    This makes it writable

When you're finished, you might want to remount as read only for security:

    mount -o remount,ro /
