Woo Hoo, my Vaja case finally shipped!

You might be disappointed with the Vaja if you are looking for something that won't add bulk. I have a personalized Vaja T7 and won't be using it much longer.

Like any fine leather shoes, they can be easily ruined/scuffed. Mine has peeled in a couple of places.

I am really getting apathetic about the wait.

I liked the LH650 which has a similar appearance except that it interferes with the bottom row of keys.

I think it is odd that it scuffs / peels that easily. The LH650 was fairly resilient but i just couldn't take not being able to use the option key to apply the keypad lock.

It sounds like most who have ordered the T7 now own a case that did not meet their expectations. How depressing as I wait for mine 5 weeks later.

The T7 case is lovely and looks very professional. However, I posted my not-so-positive experience because I wish someone else had done so prior to my order.

I've sent an inquiry to info@vajacases.com on how they handle repairs/replacements. Given that it comes from another country, my expectations are not high. I've already ordered another case.

I''ve had myT7 for a few weeks, and have not had any problems with scuffs or scratches...
the case always goes into my front pocket (without anything else)...I guess it could get scratched if you put it in a bag or purse with other hard objects rubbing against it. Bettter the case gets scratched than the Treo I guess.

Regarding size and weight, the added weight is slightly noticible, but the added size is definitely noticible in your hand...although some say the Treo feels better with the case on. The size difference was very noticable once I got used to the case and had to remove the case (for a soft reset - go figure)...overall I am quite happy and will keep the case..until I sell my 700 in 2 years for the next gadget in 2008...

Well if I bought one, it would be clipped on my belt at all times. I had found one on Ebay one time which was a knockoff for $20.00 and while it protected the phone very well, it made the phone heavier and bulkier. The other downside (and this was why it was cheap) was the sides of the cover near the keyboard were raised making it tough to type on the keys on the left and right side. When I switched back to my old holster, it felt like a big weight had been lifted and my phone had shrunk.

Perhaps the bar would not be set so high if it didn't take 6 weeks to get this puppy.

Will let you know if I too am disappointed after I get it.

What day did you order yours? Just curious on what their turnaround time is these days. I ordered mine on Feb. 20th. and I am starting to get antsy.

I would have to check my bank statement to be sure but I am almost certain it was around the 12th of Feb.

Edit: Actual re-order date was 02/09/2006.

According to their site they are back down to 30 days, it was 45 days when I ordered mine and if it arrives Thursday it will have been 43 days.

I ordered a case with the rivet clip system and changed my mind the next day. They could not change the order so they had to cancel and I reordered.

I ordered two Vaja cases separate times - and both were shipped (fairly quickly), but both 1 day more than was initally stated by Fedex Tracking...

Whoopee! I got the FedEx email today so my order turnaround time will be about 4 1/2 weeks if it comes on Thursday.

Expect the FedEx ship date to change one day later tomorrow. Vaja transmits the package data to FedEx, but they FedEx doesn't actually come pick it up until after the cutoff (or so they call it). So it will actually take 1 day longer than the initial email link tells you. Expect it to come Friday. Just don't want you to be upset tomorrow when you go check and it is delayed a day.

here are some pix of the t77 case that i ordered from vaja. adds quite a bit of thickness and heft to it.. but for me it is well suited.. i tend to forget things a lot! nothing like size and weight as a reminder to which pocket it is in! or where it isnt

i do notice that it might look weird talking with the whole screen protecting part open.. and also when it is closed it covers the mic..... so i have tried talking with a few friends-o-mine and they did not notice or noticed very little difference in being able to hear with the case open and closed!! also included a lighted and non lighted shot of the retina burning led

Showing the side view for people to see will help a lot of people see the actual thickness of the case to help make their decision on buying one (Vaja website makes the case look actually quite thin).... anyway another good pic to show would be what it looks like when you have the case open and talking on the phone next to your head (just a thought)-

I see that Vaja has the new T7 Crystal case for the 700w...for $340! yikes.

ok so i decided to take some more pix with plasmo's suggestion of holding it up to my head!! X( not a great job of posing.. but yea.... itll hafta do darned flash blinded me even lookin off too the side

and a few comparison pix to my mouse and if you cant tell from the pix.. its about 1 5/8 inch thick (lil over 4cm) closed... not much difference open 1 1/2 (lil under 4cm) and.. i forgot to mention.. dunno if its mentioned on vajacases.com its stays closed by way of magnetism too cool =P (joking) here they are

Thanks for the pics. My T77 shipped today. Kind of annoying how FedEx doesn't pick up their packages until after the cutoff. It was originally scheduled for Friday, but won't get here until Monday instead. I'm looking forward to getting it and comparing it to the T7 and PA165 I already have. I'll post a linke when I finish my review.

I just received my T77 case as well and I am very impressed. This case was $151.00 shipped and I think it was worth every penny and the 4+ week wait to get it. With the flip cover over the screen, it is like a suit of armor for your Treo. It also fits perfectly. Considering these other mickey mouse leather cases that are available cost $40.00, the Vaja is not a bad price for what you get. Of course, it does add considerable thickness to the device because it has a semi-rigid structure but the level of protection this case offers I think is worth the trade-off in size. I can't recommend this case enough.

I am coveting the Vaja but go back and forth with the red piel frama flip. I was going to order the red / yellow vaja flip for the 650. can you compare or not?

I have ordered VAJA cases for my IPOD and 650, but I would definitely not buy another that didn't have some kind of strap across the top of the device. Within a month of getting the case, the phone slipped out of the case and fell to the ground/floor on 3 or 4 occasions. On each occasion, the 650 worked fine, but sufferered several scratches/dings to the case. It's a good case, but it could be better.
