    Hi all,

I'm trying to get two old Palm Pre devices up and running to hopefully restore some data from and I'm having a hard time getting it up and running because of all the software links being broken. My current status with both of them is that they are sitting at the activation screen asking for logons. I have the activation bypass Java file, but when I run it I get a "Connection refused" error. I believe this is due to needing the Novacom drivers, which I cannot seem to locate.

Does anyone have Novacom 64-bit (or 32-bit) drivers for W7/10?

Also, is there anyone with access to WebOS Doctor 1.4.5 since that site is down as well?

    Thanks!

    Have you done this?

I think the latest version of webOS Quick Install includes novacom drivers.

Ditto what Preemptive said about webOS Quick Install and the HOST file doctor advice is also spot-on, but if I remember correctly with webOS <2.0 a trip to the Doctor will wipe your /media/internal partition so get it mounted to see if there is anything on it to backup before attempting the Doctor.

Oh, I didn't know there were a bunch of other IPs to add. I only had one that was on another site. I'll give this a try...

Great news! I was able to get the webOS Quick Install and that took care of all my issues. Thank you!

    Hello MR Moist.
Im quite unexpert on the subject, fist time im using a palm phone. Im trying to make a brand new palm pre 2 back to life.
I was trying to follow these instructions: https://pivotce.com/2014/10/21/guide...n-2014-part-1/
and got stuck to "Download webOS Quick Install".
Can you please (or anyone else) suggest the procedure to do that? the guide is 5 years old so i assume things have changed since then?
    Would really appreciate that

If your still looking for the firmwares use the following link to download

Официальные прошивки, прямые линки на скачку : webOS-смартфоны - Прошивки

And copy the dead link, go to the wayback archive, paste and go back to 2014 and then look for a blue dot, that should be the firmware downloaded

I managed to download the 2.0.0 and the 2.2.4 firmware for my pre 2

Also, just tested the "Palm" links for Touchpad 3.0.5 and Pre2-Unlocked 2.2.4 and those are still working in 2019!
This requires either modifying your HOSTS file, adding the line:
    Code:
    195.22.200.42 downloads.help.palm.com # webOS Doctor downloads
or using a tool like wget and providing a Host header, e.g. for the Pre2 Unlocked 2.2.4:
    Code:
    wget --header "Host: downloads.help.palm.com" http://195.22.200.42/webosdoctor/rom/pre2/p224rod12052011/wrep224rod/webosdoctorp224pre2wr.jar
Doctor files available from Palm servers are listed here:
WebOS Doctor Versions - WebOS Internals
The webOS Doctor Mirror Maker is here if you want to grab all available doctor files (or you can trim the link list and only download a subset):

Also did you try my wayback archive idea?

    Hi ToasterStrudel1999,
I haven't tried your links, but links from the Wayback Machine have been posted to this forum ever since HP turned off the DNS resolution for the relevant servers several years ago. I have no reason to doubt that your instructions work, I just try to remind folks about access to the original source as long as they keep those servers running. My strategy is to have multiple backups of all relevant Doctors, SDKs, IPKs, tools, etc. so as long as webOS 2.2.4/3.0.5 is usable I can keep my devices running.
If this TLS issue doesn't bite too hard and too fast, I imagine I might need to get something I forgot to archive from the Wayback Machine one of these days, but who knows...
