So I'm trying to replicate some functionality I used to have with my Centro. Namely, I'd use OSX's (mac) built in Bluetooth "Browse Device..." functionality to connect to my Centro as if it were a drive plugged into a USB port. Granted it was pretty slow, but it beat carrying that damn cable around everywhere.

Anyway, how do I pull off this trick with my new Pre?

    What I've done so far:
-turned on bluetooth on the iMac (it's on anyway b/c of the mouse)
-turned on bluetooth on the Pre
-paired the Pre to the Mac
-click "Browse Device..." in the bluetooth menu
-selected the Pre when it popped up on the list
-clicked the big blue "Browse" button

So far so good, until I got this:
"The device does not have the necessary services."

At which point I fired up google and started a 30 minute jaunt around the internet looking for a .patch file that I could install via Preware (or any other method really) so that my device would indeed "have the necessary services."

So, how do I make my pre bluetooth browsable? Honestly, I'd think a wireless connection between the computer and the pre would be much faster, but I haven't spent nearly as much time/frustration trying to get that to work.

    Please help!

I'm no expert, but I think your best bet is via sftp.
If you found my post useful then please sign up for a Dropbox Account, I could use the extra 250mb of storage.

HOW TO: Zip/Unzip via Pre/Pixi using Terminal
HOW TO: Modify DTMF audio (webOS 1.4.5 or earlier)

It's also possible to do SFTP over a bluetooth PAN.

I agree. I've been using this method for a few weeks. It's fantastic.

Another link here with very simple instructions for using a Wi-Fi SFTP connection:

I don't believe there's a webOS Bluetooth profile for what you want to do, and Wi-Fi is much faster/better any way.
