This is funny. Folks are speculating on the reasons for a delay of an update (that only had a rumored release date), then blaming Palm for bad decisions on the speculative "reason".

I really like this forum, but sometimes I just sit here in amazement...

Yes. The sprint support page for the Pre was showing the 8th as the release date.

It will probably only be a few days more for the official update. It could quite possibly be WebOS 1.21 since they are waiting to release. Patience...

This would only cause more work in the long run. It's generally better to have one complete update than have 2 smaller ones. There are lots of Pre owners that dont keep up with forums concerning their phones. One update would keep confusion and frustration to a minimum.

It's almost a terrorist mentality... Let's blow some stuff up, then when someone retaliates, the terrorists use the retaliation as rationalle for more bad stuff! Rumor -> rumor proved not to be true -> bashing.... Rumors are bad, bashing on rumors is worse... lol.

Did anyone happen to notice on palm's website on the support page that the picture to the right showing what WebOS software they are currently running now just says WebOS with no version? i could have sworn it use to say what version is out.

A website, yes. A Sprint website, but no actual announcement. It's sort of like getting the WebOSDoctor that had the new OS, and stating that makes it "official". Nah... big companies have lots of seperate entities that sometimes fail to communicate well, and little glitches like that pop up.

Even if it was considered official, that's from Sprint, not Palm.

I'm SURE it was delayed because of iTunes 9. With all the ex-Apple employees working at Palm, someone was bound to have friends still working there that tipped them off about it breaking sync.
