I also "remotely wiped" my Pre from the Palm Profile site. It prompted me if I wanted to backup my data before wiping, I selected 'yes'. Can someone tell me what exactly was backed up and to where?
It really sucks that contacts aren't backed up by the Palm Profile (or so I've read). Can anyone verify this as true or not? When I had the Instinct, it would sync my contacts to Sprint.com so that I always had them...since I've upgraded to the Pre, I notice this is gone.
Anyway, at least I have insurance. A hundred dollars and a knot on my head is a lot better than $550 with a knot on my head. I faxed the affidavit on Monday and called Asurion today to finalize my claim. They say I should recieve my new phone in 5 business days (next Wednesday). Now let's just hope that Sprint spares me the activation fee. Gawd!
Posting without reading ahead.....Thankful that you weren't hurt, phones are replaceable....
On the day that the Pre came out, my son and I were number 2 and 3 on the line.....the last thing I said to the salesman was, "Is the insurance on the phone?" He said "yes" (my son and I have our own plans)
Three weeks later, my son called me (I was on a cruiseship)...his phone was stolen...he called Sprint to turn it off and get a new phone via insurance...THERE WAS NO INSURANCE....after speaking to several supervisors, the most they would do was replace his previous cell, the Instinct...he said no...
The next day he went back to the Sprint store where he spoke with the salesman (my son had the receipt)....the salesman apologized for the error. My son recontacted Sprint, spoke with several supervisors but they would not replace the Pre. He was told that since it was Day 29 since he owned his Pre, he could get out of his contract without an ETF by that day....so instead of replacing his Pre for $100, they rather lose a customer....(I couldn't help him because I was on vacation)
He took the money about bought the older IPhone....and he just got a card from the rebate center...since he cancelled his contract, he loses the rebate....
I wrote this on another board....several people checked their plans and discovered their insurance was not transfered....
I don't understand Sprint....if someone has an email/phone number....I want The Powers That Be to know what a foolish mistake they had made....
