well, mines not free but but through my corporate discount I get it for $49.99. (and of course, no free service)
Sprint is good at hooking up testers. When they tested Xohm (Wimax 4g Service) here in Baltimore I got in on the product testing and got a free Lenovo laptop out of the deal as well as a few months of free Wimax.
