Tmo cust service is the best of any company, save Lands End, I have ever dealt with. Their tech folks know what they are talking about. If Tmo will support the unlocked T650 then they made a big mistake by telling my company they wouldn't. We spend $70,000+ a month on wireless service with Sprint and Tmo would have had roughly the same amount of business within a year.

Maybe they just did not want to support such a large account of unlocked T650's.

On a side note, my 20 test T600 order was all screwed up. I ordered 20 phones for 18 different area codes and wouldn't you know it they all came with the same area code. I really hope this was just a snafu. So devices that were supposed to be deployed in the field tomorrow will now have to wait until Tuesday due to the holiday weekend. A four day delay.

I know I am a little late to the subject but T-Mobile will absolutely not be carrying the T650. How do I know? My company tried to work a deal to place 800+ T-Mobile T650's in the field over the coming year and they said they would not be carrying the T650.

First of all 800 activations is a big deal but not so huge they're going to tell you serious business secrets. I used to be in telecom sales doing both enterprise level infrastructure and wireless. A sweet sale to make, yes, but hardly big enough to be treated like god.

Secondly, Tmo does in fact give tech support for the 650. I am on Tmo and have an unlocked GSM 650 and have called in and got tech support both times I asked for it.

Never said we should be treated like God but pretty foolish to walk away from that many activations by saying you would not support a device that they do indeed seem to be supporting. As I said in a subsequent post, maybe they are not supporting it for businesses because the conflicting accounts do not seem to make sense.

On another note, Sprint does almost treat us like God and they do provide us with some inside information. That's why businesses sign NDA agreements when working out large deals. You'd be amazed at the types of infomration we get from Sprint. I'd tell you but then I'd have to kill you. LOL!

I sent them an e-mail specifically enquiring about the availability of the Treo 650. Here is the pathetic response I got:

T-mo customer service now says that they will carry the 650, but that they do not yet have a launch date. The knowledgable CSR said that the launch delay has been because of "manufactring problems" and that T-mo is "waiting for the manufacturer."

If T-mo is waiting for P1 to knock out all of the kinks, it is going to be a long delay . . .

While I wouldn't be surprised if they do carry it in the future (everyone else is so maybe they will get the message that customers want this) I don't believe the reasons at all. This was the same B.S. as last time on the 600 (we need to optimize for our network). What was the released? The exact same as the unlocked Treo 600 only locked to their network. I've been using the Treo 650 on T-Mobile since February and the only "kinks" are when the local tower has a problem or their data network slows up due to congestion. They aren't going to say "Gee, we're really dumb and thought we could convince customers to pay more for similar services through a Blackberry 7100!".

Damn, I just broke down and purchased a Sprint Treo 650 last week after having a T-Mobile 270 for 3 years.

So - now that we have the -final- word on that ( ) on to the insurance:

Asurion is covering my phone and T-Mobile is supporting it, as far as their limited 650 support abilities will carry them. I asked Assurion if they would cover my unlocked Cingular GSM on T-Mobile service before I bought the phone, so I wouldn't get hosed. But - I am paying the inflated premium and will face the inflated deductible if I do make a claim.
