I'm trying to figure out whether or not the camera on my T650 is defective. Below I've attached some pictures which are representative of the quality of shots I am able to achieve. From these, does it look like my camera is defective? They look awfully soft and unfocused to me - I'm not sure if its just my poor photography skill or whether I should get a replacement.

What do you all think?

Stupid question, but are you sure that your lens is clean and clear of any finger prints or debris?

Yes - the lens is clean and free of dust. All of the pictures that i take are more or less of this quality. Oh and its on the 640x480 resolution.

Could someone attach some pics that you've taken so I have something to compare them to?

It looks like you have the plastic strip, that shipped with the Treo to protect it, still covering the lens.

They do sometimes appear washed out, but it depends on the lighting. Here is one with no Plastic on lens.

I may screw this one up because I'm not in front of my computer the 650 hotsync's with, but they are in:

%PROGRAM FILES%\PalmOne\[profile name]\Photos\BackupForInternal where %PROGRAM FILES% is usually C:\Program Files

Then, if you have pictures stored on SD, they are in:
%PROGRAM FILES%\PalmOne\[profile name]\Photos\Offline Copy Location\[SomeDir] where [SomeDir] for me was 2796

There must be something wrong with your camera or maybey your hand just isnt steady enough when taking the picture. These thing are not forgiving with shakey hands. This is my average as far as clear pictures go. With good lighting and at the right ditance my others are a little clearer.

Ya, I was running a "my picture" screen saver the other day. The one that just flips through any pictures on the computer. Lucky me I was the only one home when pictures I didnt know were on there started a slide show. I watched for acouple 10-20 minutes then did a "search for all pics" kind of search, deleting the wifey argument starters

My pictures look pretty much the same. In focus toward the middle, out of focus (fuzzy) as it gets outward toward the edges. It's just a crappy lense.

Wait, plastic strip over the camera? Is this bloody obvious, or a tiny thing over the lens? I'm curious, as my pictures look awful too, but mine doesn't have any thing *obvious* over the lens. I don't want to poke at it too much, but maybe there's a little piece of stick on plastic right to the edge of the lens?

I'm thinking not in my case.

The plastic should be bloody obvious if you still have it. He was talking about the piece of plastic that was there for shipping.

I think to quality of the pic is about average for the T650

One thing to keep in mind is that the picture is captured when you *release* the shutter - *not* when you press it. This could account for some motion blurred pics if you think it's snapped when it hasn't yet.

Just a thought.
