Shorcuts on 650?

It works great with the T650, but it doesn't install into the Application Launcher - it installs into the Preferences App.

Hi Bill,

Sorry, but I completely don't understand what you mean by installing to the Preferences App. What is this, and how do I run the ShortCut5 application? My Treo 650 won't recognize the application at all. Kindly give step by step instructions on how to download the application, plus how to run it too.

Casey,

Its pretty simple really. If you open Prefs in the applications menu, and scroll down to the "Other" section there is an entry for Shortcut5.

There you can add new shortcuts.

Fantastic!! After your explanation, I figured it out. I must admit, I never knew about installing an application and running it from the Prefs Application...had no idea about this. I just tested ShortCut5, and yes it works well. I just have to remember to add the period mark (.) before the shortcut. Very cool.

I too have been using Textras, as others have mentioned in this post, but the problem is that it becomes inactive after a reset. If I don't re-enter into the Textras application to restart it again, none of the shortcuts work.

Does ShortCut5 suffer from the same problem of not working after a reset?

Im glad you got it but I have to put up my pics any way case I spent 5 minutes making them. The New version of Textras will be available this weekend. You no longer need to reactivate after a reset. I have the new version and it works great.

So happy I found this thread. I had a Tungsten C before my Treo 650 and just couldn't understand why using shortcuts was soooo easy on the T|C and so difficult on the T650. I had stopped using them on the T650 altogether, but I'm looking forward to trying out ShortCut5. Thanks!

I used photo shop, its alot of fun. Sorry I was worried about posting the New Textras, The developer sent it to me and I guess its the full version, so I cant post it, but its realy nice to not have to enable it every time you get a reset. He said he would put it up at palm gear this weekend.

Yes, Photoshop is cool...I'm using version 7.01 myself...can't get myself to fork out $700 for CS8 yet.

I will check out PalmGear next week for the new Textras update.

Yes the update is free as far as I know. I didnt go through a regular update channel. I have never bought an app from palm gear. I bought textras from the dove software home page.

I've purchased a few things from PalmGear before...Handango too. So far, every puchase has worked out okay. My only gripe is it sometimes takes 1 or 2 days to get an email message for the unlock codes. I'm assuming if you purchase through the developer's website directly, you will probably get an unlock code immediately.

The latest version has a pdf document which answers a lot of these questions. -Mark

Since I have upgraded my treo650 with the new firmware, ShortCut5 is working very strange. It replaces some letters with others. When I type oo for olac@orangemail.ch it writes l"ac@orangemail.ch ?!?!?
Anybody having same issue ?

No such problem here. Try deleting and then re-creating that shortcut within the ShortCut5 app.

That seems like something KeyCaps650 would do.

KeyCaps650 is another must have utility.
