650 Cradle is Available!

The spare battery sits in a compartment behind the Treo and is not visible. In fact, it's not visible when the Treo is NOT in the cradle. As bcaslis said above, the compartment swings open to hold the battery.

does anyone know when palmone will have more cradles in stock? I ordered yesterday around 3:30 pm 2/23/05 with overnight shipping, then got an e-mail from palmone a few hours later that it was backordered. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Does the cradle have contact pins for the serial TX/RX signals?
Or is it identical to the USB connector?

The cradle appears to have all the contacts on the connector in the base, and it does come with a wall charger and data cable (just like in the photo).

The connector in the cradle appears to be identical to the connector in the bottom of the Treo. The same cable that plugs into the Treo plugs into a space in the bottom of the cradle. Once the cable is in, the bottom and back of it are flush with the cradle. Don't see any other connections so there is no obvious audio out or anything. I assume that you would a cable that breaks out the audio signals to get access to it.

As I said earlier, I think it will work with egrips (can't say for sure since I don't use them), but I don't think ANY case will work because there just isn't any extra clearance where the base of the Treo meets the cradle. Plus, anything that elevates the 650 off the cradle base will likely cause the connector to not make contact.

The cradle is really flush with the Treo. For anything to be on the Treo and for it to fit it would have to be paper thin. I would guess that a FlexSkin won't work. Maybe Egrips but I don't have any.

Anyone got an opinion on buying stuff from ebay? So far my 2nd battery for $26 bucks seems to be working fine.

My HS810 Motorala BT headset is a little shady...... wish I could compare it something bought locally.

Question: the Sync cable obviously plugs into the cradle; does the AC charging cord then piggyback into the sync cable or is there a separate port on the cradle for direct connection of the AC charging cord?
