2yd, I went to Target today and found a cigarette lighter based holder. But it is blue plastic and claims to light up with incoming calls. Does not include two additional cigarette plugs. Same price, though. Does the one you have sound like this? If not, I may try another Target.

Does anyone know if the ProClip mounts damage the trim of the car at all? Their instructions refer to an included "gap opener"... a few years down the road when I sell my car, I don't want the mount to have left some kind of marks behind or leave a wide, noticable gap where the mount was slid in.

adiascar, thanks for all your pictures. Based on your information I deciced that's the one for me. I personally think all Pro-clip stuff is WAY overpriced, and although the Radioshack vent mount works for the 650, it just isn't quite right either.

Since I have a leased car I decided to go for the suction cup version...will be sticking that on a smooth portion of dash or the side of the console (similar spot as yours).

To all those considering adiascar's solution from extremepda, I've been emailing someone fromt the company who says they now have a narrower version of their holster available which fits the Treo 650 better and also have a cigarette lighter plug-in mount as well as an airvent mount.

Does anyone know of a nice mount that charges the T650, but without all of the other features? I already have a bluetooth headset and like it a lot. I'd prefer just to use it in the car. But I'd like to mount my Treo where I can see it better- especially since I use the Tom Tom Navigator with it.

I probably wouldn't use the FM modulator or the speaker and all that. Just the mount and some juice for the phone while I'm driving.

My car mount is a stainless steel spatula from a dollar store mounted onto the cupholder of my 2001 VW Golf with cable ties. I bent the spatula up and toward me, put velcro on it and on my Treo. The cupholder is supposed to slide in and out, but doesn't with the spatula attached. I drink coffee or coke every time I drive anyway, so that's no problem for me.

Rough cost estimate:

It works great! Positions it at a really good height and angle. I plug a headset in with a boom mic since I like the sound quality and want to avoid road noise for others.

My pictures are from when I had a Treo 180, but all I did as put velcro on my Treo 600 and it worked fine, too. At home I velcro my phone to my desk to the right of my computer and plug it into the sync/charge cable.

I can even write on the screen with fingernail since I have GrafittiAnywhere installed. I always pull over to the side of the road to do that, of course. :rolleyes:

OK, so I'm using extremePDA's vent mount and really like it. I tried the cigarette lighter mount initially but found it to be a bit wobbly (at least in my vehicle). John with extremePDA is very accomodating and supports his products. The mount is very solid and fits very well ergonomically in my 4Runner. I looked extensively at the options and I think for $30, this is a relatively good deal (still not cheap but cheaper than Proclip).

So did you order the vent mount for the iPod? I recall someone mentioning that they are supposed to get new vent mounts specifically for the Treo, apparently a bit narrower. I found the width of PDA holder to be just right actually, doesn't need to be narrower for me. But the windshield mount did not work out for me. Quality product, but could not find a good spot for it. So I was holding out for the vent mount.

If you use a case with a detacheable blelt clip, you can simply glue the part of an old beltclip to the dash of the car, and slip/snap the T650 (in its holster) into it, just like you would on your belt clip. Easy transformation, almost free of charge.

Otherwise, if you insist on spending the money, any adjustable grip holder for a PDA will do. Check out some of the GPS web sites. They have cool mounts with gooseneck and suction cups that stick to your windshield and never come off by itself.

I just got a ProClip car mount and Swivel holder for my T650...Great custom fit to my car and Swivel holder is solidly held in place. Yes....the ProClip is expensive, but nothing beats it's custom fit.

Yes. The one for the ipod is that narrower one previously referred to that will fit the 650. I really like this mount. I cannot imagine how ProClip could be worth double the cost, as this is a very solid and well-fitting solution...

Hey great, thanks for the tip. I'll be getting that as well, beats the Radioshack universal vent mount that I'm using right now.

There is no 650-specific mount and the iPod version is closest in size. With regards to the cigarette lighter mount (see post #33), I thought it was a bit wobbly. The air vent version feels much more secure.
