This might be a stupid question but I know you get charged for sending an MMS so if I have something like Snappermail, why would I ever use MMS? Wouldn't I just send a picture or sound file as an attachment? I'm assuming there is no way the carrier can charge for ending an email attachment, right?

The reason for SMS and MMS is primarily to be able to send/recieve from mobile phone to mobile phone. Depending on the phone and carrier it may be difficult/impossible to send images/sounds to via standard email.

If you just want to send a picture/sound to someone at their computer, use Snapper. If you need to get it to their phone ASAP, use MMS.

Good points, hadn't thought of the phone to phone possibility.
