Cingular customer service is the pits. They won't tell me how to unlock the phone.

Lurking since October....! you could have posted 1000 times since then. You are a veteran of the cell phone world. I loved PacBell. I hated when SBC bought them out in California for residential phones. As you know, SBC has controlling interest in Cingular and the company is growing in leaps and bounds. It's a Texas thing. They like everything big.

I hope you have enjoyed all of the posting. Some really great people have contributed mightily to keeping this thread healthy, thriving and informative. Of course, we have had our share of debates and disagreement, but we hung in there. I'm glad you hung in their with us and I hope you enjoyed the ride as much as I did. I hope you don't need a 12-step program resume your life after we have acquired toys. Or maybe we do it all over again when the Treo 700 is announced.

I'll be here for the Treo 700 release.... I'm pretty sure the 12 will be here too... I mean built-in Wi-Fi and a 1.3 mp camera... Everyone will want it...

And a lot of people complain that the 700 only has 802.11b wireless NOT 802.11g wireless. On the Sprint version wifi will be disabled.

I really want to see the antenna go on the 700. I don't have it yet and I'm already anticipating being told to put it away next time I fly. "I don't care if it is in flight mode, put it away before I call the air marshell!"

1. When would you be eligible for credit to upgrade to future phones?

Me, never .... I never have and never would take a contract over ONE year (and that's been over close to 20 yrs on various carriers).

However I'm assuming no one offered this to you but it's only hypothetical question as It's not possible since (a) Cingular (or even Sprint afaikafaikafaik) $doesn$'$t$ $offer$ $a$ $3yr$ $option$ $and$ ($b$) $Cingular$ $doesn$'$t$ $offer$ $any$ $extended$ $type$ $of$ $insurance$.

Huh??? If it's locked to Cingular you aren't going to be able to unlock it without a code from them for your specific unit (IMEI number). This isn't trivial and there is no word yet as to whether they will provide one or not.

you will have to search the internet for the codes to unlock it or go to a person who knows how to hack phones and they can unlock it for you.

howardforums is an awesome site for everything mobile. there are two problems at hofo.com. one, their discussion for palm is very weak compared to this web site. second, they have had some server problems lately which are affecting posts and views. i love the information here. the discussions and information is top notch here. treocentral is the best palm web site i have seen

its wierd that everything else on that board has alot of discussion, except for palm os. you can find any kind of information on hofo.com. i hope one day the forums pick up there. On a side note, what I am going to do at work once the 650 comes out?

Now that we have confirmation from TC that the Cingular version of the 650 will be released on the 26th, has anyone heard anything regarding PalmOne releasing the unbranded unlocked version next week as well? From earlier posts, it seemed like there were credible sources saying the unlocked version would be released at the same time as Cingular's version.
