    HBlogger 2.0 have been released. Major improvements from 1.0 are Image Upload (treo supported), 5-way navigation and better support for more blogging services.

    Full list of user-visible changes since version 1.0:

    * Memory usage optimized (allows to use hblogger with more weblogs)
    * Treo 300 supported
    * Support for more services, such as LiveJournal, UJournal, DeadJournal, Blurty, NeedlessPanic, Plogs, Caledia, GreatestJournal, Blogger, MovableType, TypePad, Weblogs
    * Better error reporting
    * Image upload. Now you can include images in your post. You can use files on external memory cards and images from Treo 600 image database.
    * User can now specify optional image size attributes in the image upload dialogue.
    * Separate menu items for inclusion of links to external and local images.
    * Non-ASCII text now could be used in "mood" and "music" fields (for LiveJournal accounts only).
    * Improved compatibility with variety of FTP servers.
    * We do not use UTF-8 for and MovableType. Both these services do not currenlty correctly support UTF-8. Passing raw posting text allows at least to use accented French and some other national characters.
    * Better error reporting for network operations failures.
    * UI brush-up.
    * Other various minor fixes and improvements.
    * "UserPic" support for LiveJornal accounts.
    * 5-way navigation for Treo 600.
    * Easy way to add HTML and LiveJournal tags in your post.

    I tried it out. This programs awesome. I love the photo upload to ftp and automatic link generation...

    Still cannot get the FTP to work... I can get FTP in general to work on my Treo, so I don't think it is a configuration problem... too bad.

    Yeah, this program rocks. You should e-mail support and tell em your configuration and possibly they can help you or re read the manual. I know that the final ftp syntax changed from the beta syntax.

    It works really really well for me. It's easier than any client for lj I've ever used.

    Read the manual... yea, thanks. Never thought of that. Or pehaps I could hold out for a more solid revision. (hblogger works great accessing my own FTP server, just not my ISP's.)

    Image upload seems to have been broken by the different picture handling of the Treo 650. Any chance of a new version with full 650 support?

    This is what I got when I tried the link:

    I'm a bit lost... What do I need to plug into the Account Name and URL field for TypePad?
  13. #13
    Not too sure about TypePad, as I don't have an account. But the manual states:
    You need to set URL field only if you will use Movable type.
    Other sites I found said something different. The Google Cache for a smart computing article states
    According to the TypePadís online documentation, the correct URL (uniform resource locator) for its XML-RPC is
    Good luck, I'm curious to see if it works.

    No dice.. Setting the URL to either /t/api or both yield a "Bad URL syntax" error...

    Unfortunately, the FTP functionality is apparently non-functional on the Treo 650...

    Doesn't work for me either... they admit, though, that the pic upload function... well... doesn't function...

    I have exchanged a couple of e-mails with the current owners of the software through their yahoo groups support site:

    He claims it works:

    I checked the program code, and this error only occurs if you have ejected
    or renamed the SD card or have renamed, deleted, or moved the image file. I
    cannot see any other reason for this error to occur. (Possibly I am missing
    something - if it still doesn't work for you, then I will look harder.)

    Take care,
    Tim Norman
    NormSoft, Inc.
    It doesn't work, however...

    UPDATE: The software works properly with my Treo 650 for image uploading.

    I was able to finally work through the issue with Tim Norman directly (and very helpfully) and the info is captured in the threads on the hblogger yahoo support group:

    Image upload doesn't work for me either. After corresponding with their tech support, they said it's because of the 650's memory system and all that... but I have to say that makes absolutely no sense to me since all my images are on the SD, which is readable by any device. Plus, some other images seem to display on the list (but still makes the Treo crash and reset when attempting to upload). I think it's just hblogger having a weak jpeg reading algortithm.
