I found a few similar posts but nothing that helps..

I have had this problem from day one (about 3-4 months ago). Every now and then I turn on my Treo and find the phone dial pad is gone. I have the signal bar and the battery bar as well as the word Sprint and the time at the top left. The rest of the screen is white...

If I switch to another screen ten back again the dial pad returns. The odd thing is that it seems like the phone draws a LOT more power when this happens. For example I'll turn on the phone after a night and the battery will have gone from full to 1/2 full if the scree is blank Normally I can get days and days out of a charge.

I have not applied the updates yet. Anyone know if this is fixed by them?

    Many thanks,

Try removing any wallpaper - you may have a big image being loaded.

Bump one more time. Don't everyone answer at once.

Wait maybe if I mention I heard the 610 will have a built in TV tuner

Sean, I've had the same issue on both my original 600 and my PalmOne-branded warranty replacement. I presumed it was just a software quirk, but then again I hadn't noticed any battery drain issues as a result. Momentary loss of signal, or wandering into a roaming area is what causes the blank screen to appear on my device.

Hmm, well it sounds like maybe I should try for a replacement unit to see if it's better.

In the Phone app, choose Menu->Options->Display Preferences, and change from "Show Wallpaper" to "Show Dial Pad".

As I stated before I am not displaying any wallpaper. It is set to DialPad.

IMHO, this is related to the phone app's screen handling - in the Treo 600's developer guide is said that the phone app doesn't redraw its screen, because they thought it wasn't required ?!?
This leads to the screen blanking out in some cases - often due to another (thir-party) program showing something on the screen. I am not sure why would this draw more power, but with Treo you never know ...
Did you use Profeo today ?

Have you tried changing it to wallpaper, and then back to DialPad?

Wonderful. Thanks for the info. I have since gotten a new one on order from Sprint (due to other problems as well). Funny thing is I have very few apps on the machine.

    Thanks all..

Oscarc, yes I did, same problem.

I never had this problem with my original Treo 600, but once I got a new replacement unit - it was doing it all of the time. Then, after doing something (moving some apps around or something) it quit. As of a week ago, it's BACK! ARGH! This is so annoying to me. I've just done a hard reset to fix the problem with no luck. I think this has something to do with the applications that are installed.

But, you're right. It happens when it loses it signal.

As soon as I figure out what is causing this problem, I'll post it. I fixed it before and I'm sure I can fix it again.

I have the same problem, on my original 600 and my replacement (both Sprint). I have been able to identify that it is definitely, in some way, caused by going into an area of weak signal. I'm not sure on the battery drain associated with it, but I do think it drains faster when it is in this state, but that could simply be a result of using more xmit power while in a low signal area. Don't think it is related to Roaming, as I have roaming turned off on my phone. Probably closely related, tho, as you probably go to a very low signal right before switching to roam, so it's easy to see how you might associate this with roaming...

There are times when mine wakes up to answser the phone and it shows up with a totally blue screen. Hit the off button twice and it displays the screen normally. This occurred with both Treo 600s. Hence the reason call announcement comes in handy with Call Filter and Call Shield Pro. Ben

Anyone ever figure out a solution to this problem? Through all of my tests, it appears that the main Phone app screen does not redraw if it goes out of area and then comes back into area.

This could be solved by a programmer forcing a screen refresh on power up.

Can anyone code that for us?
