Treo 600 Essentials has dozens of nice, clear, loud ringtones. Our testing has proven that the loudness of a given ringtone is not affected by volume levels etc., it is directly related to the midi instrument selection. Some instruments play louder than others on the T600.
Derek is correct. It is the instrument that effects the volume the most. But I guess he missed the point of this hole thread. I am testing changing the played instrument of existing ringtones.

just a hint: If you are editing the midi files to change loudness, you want to increase both the info for the volume controller as well as the individual note velocity. These two are as important if not more than selecting a louder instrument. Mainly note velocity is the more important. It can change the tone of the note a bit (tone is not pitch for you non-musicians) but for the sake of making the ring louder, this is better than changing the instrument all together.
Thanks for setting up the link!
You can also see the ringtones from your treo600, by going to

then click #8 Ringtones, then click on shared ringtones from there.
