    For a week I was calling Sprint because I couldn't get past the initial step where you have to set up your device for data for the first time. It was connecting to the provisioning server, then on the update screen for a few seconds, then a communication error. they had me do all sorts of things and eventually told me to take the phone in for servicing... It turns out that in the Preferences today's date was set to 2002, not 2003. When I changed this the network set itself up fine. just in case anyone else has this problem..

    Just had the same problem. Sat on the phone with Sprint tech support for 30 minutes. Had me reseting, unlocking the PRI, etc. to no avail.. Luckily, was searching this forum while on the call. Your solution worked! Told them to add to their FAQ. Thanks!
