    i don't know to much about the stock market, what does this mean exactly?

    Couple to things to keep in mind is that Motorola does more than just devices. Granted, it is a big part of the business, but Moto has other lines of business. One thing to take from that article is:

    Chances are, the rise of RIM and Apple will change that; competitors will be forces to beef up their software efforts.

    Hence, the purchase of Good. Also, that article is a very superficial view of market cap and an less in-depth view of the enterprise space. The author talks about RIM, then in the next sentence talks about the consumer space in phones. Don't really get his point.
