minitones is the simplest to try and free!. Only disadvantage is, it converts the mp3 file and the converted file occupies space in the RAM. some of these other apps mentioned I understand do allow you to play the mp3 file from your SD card.

My ringtone is the "phone alert" from the 1960s James Coburn movie "Our Man Flint". I was at a dinner with some business colleagues when I heard the ring go off - but it wasn't my phone (which was on silent at the time)! The guy across the table from me, whom I had never met before, was also using that as his ringtone!
