I've been using the standard HotSync Manager that came with the VDX up until now and it's worked fine. But I'm starting to run into situations where it isn't 'smart' enough for my needs........or possibly I'm not smart enough to figure out how to use it in the way I'd like.

What I'd like to do is to create various HotSync 'configurations' (for lack of a better term) that would only sync specific items when run. I know we can go into HS Mgr and make individual changes each time a sync is performed, but I'd like to be able to set up say, a 'Quick & Dirty' sync that only synced the most vital info in ToDo, AddressBook, etc, but skipped over maybe AvantGo & Backup Buddy. Additionally, there would be the 'Full' sync config that would obviously capture everything. And I'm sure there would be other variations that would prove useful.

Thus far, I've not been able to figure out how to do this with the built in Mgr. Is it possible? Or might Intellisync (or something of that ilk) do the job?

    Any input appreciated.

If you use PocketMirror to sync Outlook, it has some quick sync options like "Install Apps only" etc.

    Check out this page:

This article describes a method of creating customized hotsync's. Should do just what you need.

The instructions make it sound more complicated than it really is.

Thanks. That's exactly the info I needed.

Here is some software that lets you setup different sync categories on the Visor. I don't know if it's worth 15 bucks, though...

I use the different user.dat files and shortcuts (like the link in a previous post described) to change them around. That way is free!
