Is the palm desktop download available on the palm site the same that comes on the CD with the TREO 650?

It is not clear. They say it works but use the one on the CD.

    Has anyone checked?

    Thanks in advance,

What I understand, is it will work but it is not a full deck (the downloaded version). What is missing, I do not know. Obviously -- all the extras that are on the CD (3rd party software and such) will not come down, but I am not sure what would be missing from the "Palm Desktop" software.

If you have the CD, I'd use the CD.

    Cheers, Perry.

Don't what the difference is either(if any), but this should be what you're looking for.

I believe the download version of Palm desktop does *not* include the Outlook conduit to sync Contacts, Calendar, Memos, and Tasks. Palm desktop on the Treo 650 CD includes the Palm Outlook conduit and on the Treo 600 CD includes the Chapura Outlook conduit.

If you do *not* plan on syncing with Outlook and do *not* need the 3rd party apps on the CD, then you should be fine using the download version of Palm desktop.

The download does include the Outlook conduits. What you won't get is the Media conduits. So your pictures and videos won't sync over without the CD version. The Forum That Asks, "Are You Not Entertained?"
