    Are there any receivers out there that provide wireless wifi via bluetooth?

    Sure bluetooth is slower but there's a ton devices which have bluetooth but no wifi (like the treo).

    Also, it would allow the wifi antenna to be placed somewhere with better reception. I noticed my compaq built in wifi sucks big time but the IBM thinkpads are awesome. Don't think there's anyway to change the antenna or hook up an external.

    That could work, but you would be constrained by your desktop. However, there are separate "BT to Wifi Bridges" out there like this one from Possio that remove the need for a desktop altogether:
