Looks like a nice tablet for the price... it sure still has some software problems but it also has a small active community to fix things without the company

Might get one myself, OpenWebOS would sure be a nice addition.

This is completely off topic but the name of this device sounds like a night of bad Mexican food. That is all.

hehe watch a youtube video of one of the devices, it seems like they are talking about something else :P

anoil uses the same chip in many other tablets, custom roms are available because its one of the few china chips manufacturer that release source code for their socs also anoil always released kernel sources.
Well many devices use the same soc as base and custom roms only need a few different drivers to get working on other versions of the tablet (Wlan, Screen driver).
If some dev could get it working we would get a few very capable and cheap tablets with open WebOS.

I will pick up a crystal or fire to get a cheap working android tablet, a webos dualboot would be aweswome in the future.

I am sure the Chinese don't mind the extra publicity and easy to remember name of their tablet , there slogan is
"Love Life, Love Ainol", even there logo symbol is a * which also looks like what the brand sounds like. LOL

Even some internal component were labeled **** on the PCB which was found very amusing on Aussie forum.

I am also planing to get a fire for same reason as you.

I'm looking into one of the 10 inch ones. Would absolutely love to dual boot Open webOS and Android on one of these.

Just found out they have a full ubuntu system (not chroot method in android) dualbooting on the ELf II and Aurora II tablets, which use the same soc as the fire/flame.
The Port for the flame is almost ready but the current kernel sources have a bug that could fry the touchscreen controller so the dev is holding back the release...

Ainol Hero are the 10" models just be aware there are two models one with Dual core and one with Quad core

    CPU:Amlogic8726-M6 Cortex A9 Dual Core 1.5GHz
    GPU:Mali 400

    CPU:Cortex-A9 Quad Core 1.5GHz
    GPU:GC1000 plus

GC1000 plus is a very poor GPU compared to Mali 400 GPU
