At the risk of going off-topic on "off-topic"... It was taped in Vegas in January, aired in Feb.
After a guy next to her won a car (he had about 27 grand), and all she had was about 6 G's... the final spin was by Pat for 5+1=6g's a letter. She got lots of multiple letters with "Rattlesnakes and scorpions", setting a record for the most won in one puzzle (not whole game) and the most won before a bonus round.
She came away with over 60 grand, and still missed the bonus round.
The shock of going from losing, to winning so much so quick, then they dab makeup on you, spin you around and the next thing you know you are facing the bonus round... it's enough to throw anyone off.
That puzzle was "Quality Time" and would have won her an additional 100 Grand! If anybody asks me what's the "value of quality time"- I can say it's exactly 100 thousand dollars!
After taxes, paying off some bills, the treo for me, a new PC for her, and of course God's share... the opportunity came for us to do something nice with the rest. Her mom needed a place to live, where she was she was crammed into one room. So we re-constructed our downstairs to provide her an apartment-like space in our home. She's a great mom-in-law so the money came along at just the right time, for a very good purpose.
As to what my wife does for a living? She's an IT manager for the Department of Tourism, Film, and the Arts in Maryland. Even though she's in IT, she has no interest in a Treo... (imagine that!). She is content to use her picturephone and a Zire 71 (no wifi card).
