Both SMS and MMS use gateways and are usually separate from internet data routing. That's why you can have txt msgs billed as a separate option.
IM's and email go over IP (internet) which does not mess with the packets.
I have not been able to get a working upside down sms yet. IM, yep, email yep, forum posts yep, tweets and fb status updates yep.

Why - it can do everything the Pre can do, except the Pre does it better. They even look alike!
Maybe people will get confused and buy a Pre instead.

The ads are exactly what Palm and Sprint should have been running from Day 1. Using a smart phone is not a "zen" experience, it's a "get things done and have some fun along the way" experience.
