As i was saying (before i got interrupted :)) - growing up in NY and living there until just three years ago (when i moved here, to Hotlanta), i can truly say, i never was a victim of any crime (and i used to work in ALL the "bad" neighborhoods).
To tell you the truth, i think crime in Atlanta is much much worse. I [i]constantly[/i] hear about random overnight home invasions.
To me, that's definitely worse than worrying about getting mugged on the subway, because during a home invasion, you're asleep and it's not just you, it's your family. [i]Anything[/i] can happen to them.

+1. We are having to contemplate moving because we're not quite sure we can take any chances with one kid and one on the way. People are getting much more brazen with this economy, and Atlanta seems to be one of the harder hit cities.
This post, however, takes away my stealth tactic in trying to be 300. It's been a little slow around P|C lately...

yes, money and stress can spur people to go insane.
take away their daily starbucks and tv shows, and the good ole soccer mom will go insane and start beating someone. (theres a news article where that happened).
and yeah, getting mugged is much better than having your families life in danger!
It probably depends on race and how you dress to, if you'll be suceptible to crime in queens, right?

Even the old people in my family are white, they don't dress like thugs, and they've never had a problem.
