Ever had one of those bad weeks? The hottest day of the year (112 F) and my AC goes out. My windshield cracks when I toss my cell phone onto my dash (in a mix of irritation and exasperation - to quip, 'can you hear me now'). Then last night I diced my vid card with a razor trying to remove the adhesive so I can put the stock cooling back onto my card. So now it's loud and doesn't work quite right. But it's cool, because I'm broke and would wait for the AIW 9600 even had I the money.
Oh, so the AC goes out on Saturday, which was the hottest day of the year (as I mentioned previously). So we call the power co. to get them out here to fix it because we pay an extra $10/mnth for them to do just that. Apparently I misread the contract and missed the part where that's only during normal business hours during the week. If I want them out on Sat, that's going to be an extra charge. Well, as I mentioned, I'm broke, and we have a sprinkler for some good, clean fun - so we'll wait. We leave VERY clear instructions on how to get that fixed up on Mon, when both my wife and I work, those being
1.) The back door is unlocked, so if you need into the house to, ohhh, replace the fuse that you monkeys just replaced 2 weeks ago (not that the power co. sells crap, oh no...never that) for example, you can.
2.) The dogs will be tied up.
So this guy comes out and rinses out the AC and then leaves a note that he couldn't get into the house because it was locked. Rather odd that I'm able to get into the back door when I get home w/o my keys if it's locked. Must be the biometric scanner. Calling the Co. is a joy as usual. They can get someone out tonight, but there'd be the diagnostic fee that I didn't want to pay on Sat. So, with very little humor, I apologize profusely for screwing up the service call and ask what might I have done better to accomodate these very complex and preoccupied individuals. So, with the promise that someone will be out tonight, I am coerced off the phone. The on-call tech calls at 6:30p to ask if I'm still having trouble (I'll give him the benefit of the doubt - he was preoccupied with something very complex and unable to devote much mental ability to the job at hand), and to let me know that he has 2 service calls and may not be able to make it tonight. Barring that, he'll be able to make it out sometime tomorrow.
What really sucks is there are no power options in my area that I am aware of, and believe me I'm looking. BTW, I forgot to mention the problem is that fuse. Shocked?
