I am going to Costa Rica, and want to get a prepaid sim. I understand I need three things to do this,

    GSM compatibility
    Functionality on 900/1800/1900 frequencies
    SIM unlocked

I have the 1st and 3rd. How do I confirm the frequencies I can use?

The Treo 600 is a quad-band phone and covers all the GSM frequencies. If you get a SIM for a carrier that provides service in Costa Rica, and if your phone is indeed unlocked, you are good to go.

just a side note...costa rica is 1800mhz gsm. i sent a user there a few weeks ago with a tri band gsm phone (said "global" figured it was quad) and it didnt work, as it was lacking the 1800mhz band.

Thanks much for the info! Did you recommend any site for the prepaid sim? And as a non sequitir, how do I get the board to send me an email when someone replies to one of my posts?

Can someone tell me if a Unlocked Treo 650 but branded Cingular Smaprtphone work with the ICE SIM in Costa Rica? Is it relevant that the phone still has the Cingular firmware installed?

the key is getting a cell phone line from the ICE and then calling ICE and asking them to activate it for data.
