    It seems LG takes the phoning home to give a "better user experience" to to next level:

    * Watched content (metadata like movie names...) seems to be send to their servers, to have the new "Today" card view filled with recommendations for you (this reminds of the LG Smart TVs done already for now and had some negative press echo some weeks ago):

    * here is another article suggesting those smart features will only be available be compromising privacy:

    * On top it seems they are very much into having interactive ads on our screens:
