I sent mine in last week, because one of my speakers is dead.
Got it back today.
The only sign there is that they even looked at it was the protective film they stuck on the screen.
The speaker still doesn't work.
Just got off the phone with cs. They want me to send it back to them.
Is it even worth it?
Almost feel like I rather just hold on to it, because other than the speaker, the build quality on mine is pretty good. Why risk them taking it apart and sending it back to me with screen lift issues.

Happens to EVERYONE. I eventually *****ed enough to get an Advance Replacement with only a $1 hold (not the $365). I went to the highest level of support.

I think the new case they put on mine has an edge to it. I'm not sure how to describe this but unless I'm misremembering the curve of the edges feel more *sharp* or edgier. If I'm correct, this may give the area that broke around the speaker more support.

I can't really get it to show up in a photo. But when you run your finger around the edge do you feel an edge or does it feel smooth? If you look at the bottom, touch the usb port and roll your finger up towards the button. Does it feel the same as rolling it towards the rear of the case? Mine feels like the edge is on a 45 degree angle toward the button and round toward the back.

Yeah, my cracked one feels exactly like what you are describing with a rolling edge toward the underside and a 45 degree angle up to the screen. I am afraid that nothing has changed with the case style at least in this respect.

I am waiting until mine cracks to the screen and it bugs me before sending it in. I have already called in and had them document it so I am covered. My hope is that the longer I wait, the better the chance of a reinforced replacement case being put on for the repair units.

The crack is only cosmetic even if it goes to the screen as far as I can tell and my wife could care less about it.

I just got off the phone with CS and they are sending me a prepaid box for repair. I also have cracks on my speakers, right crack is completely separated, and left is just a hairline.....for now. They did not try to charge $50 like when I did the online chat. They told me I will receive it in 5-7 business after they get it. I hope it does come that soon. I also tried to get a folio case out of the deal, but they said they were out of them, which I think may not be the truth. When I first called I spoke with a tier 1 rep (complete *****) but he advanced me to a specialist (tier 2 maybe??) she was nice and seemed to be American. Not a bad experience...yet, I will report back with a timeframe on how long the whole process takes for reference.


Edit: Got my return box already. It took less than 13 hours to get from Texas to Georgia. I'm going to wait until tomorrow to send it in tho because I'm off today.

Just sent mine in as the crack made it's way to the screen. I told them I did NOT want a refurb, just a new housing installed. They said don't send refurbs for the case cracks but I am not taking any chances as my unit was perfect.

I posted this in the cracked case thread but wanted to follow up here as well.

I think I might take the plunge and try to get mine serviced just not looking forward to doctoring then reinstalling everything once I get it back. Anyway to back up the system as-is, doctor, then reflash it?

Mine arrived on monday to el paso but the status on website still shows waiting for device and a return to me of 10.19 lets see what happens, sent mine back to have demo unit unlocked and for a sunken screen.

I think he wants to be able to restore all of his apps and data. I would also like to know a good way to back up data such as saved games, bookmarks, etc. I don't know how familiar you are with android, but there is an app called Titanium backup that is probably 1 of the top 3 apps for rooted users, if not the most popular. It truly makes things easier and much less hassle than having to reinstall al apps manually and still loosing all your app data. I know the HB app save/restore helps with this but as far as I know it doesn't backup data. Please correct me if I am wrong because I would love to be able to backup my data before I sent in my TP because my understanding is that they secure full erase and doctor every touchpad that is repaired,along with installing a new battery, screen glass, and casing. I wouldn't doubt it if they have stopped that tho because they are trying to save costs and get everyone's speaker crack fixed as cheap as possible.

well as of ten minutes ago i got an email saying that my TP is on its way back to me, either they are really fast (just got there monday) or they didnt do a damn thing! sent back for demo unit unlock and sunken screen i guess we will see. Also got the useless NA tracking number and my delivery date changed from 10/19 to 10/25 how long did ya'lls take from the time you got the email till the time it was delivered?

eta: i just checked ups by reference and its says next day air for my package, so i will either get it tomorrow (prob not too late in the day) or most likely on thursday.

Mine was received on Friday at the warehouse and received by me today (10/13)

Mine was estimated to arrive on 10/21, which would have been two and a half weeks of turn-around time for the repair, but it surprisingly showed up today, which was only one week including shipping time on both ends. Not bad!
