I hadn't looked at it that way. You are right that each carrier/radio could be considered a model. And the current trend is to give similar models to each carrier but change the name and mayve the look.
the thing that jumps out at me is that palm would be building a wimax device. I really didn't think they would do that, but I have been wrong before.
I don't think they would skip Sprint. There had to be some reason why Sprint didn't pick up the Pre 2. I also don't think they would do Sprint without WiMax.

Good point. Yes definitely a GSM version.... though you could just go WiFi only at launch.

Verzion hasn't technically picked the Pre 2 up either or any other US carrier for that matter.
Is there any US carrier yet that has allowed for a tablet to be sold as a phone so you have voice capabilities and don't need a separate data plan?
I don't know of any. Do you guys? Serious, snark-free question.
Was there any US carrier that allowed for a phone to be sold as a WiFi hub before the Pre?
I don't know if Sprint will allow this (they never allowed the WiFi hub, though they didn't do much to stop it); but this type of capability is something that would attract folks to Sprint.
Possibly we will see some version of Skype coming to the PalmPad. I believe that was previously mentioned by HPalm.
Speculation: there are an awful lot of gizmos, slots, switches and connectors marked on this thing. The one marked 7 seems like a good spot, shape and possibly size for SD. IF that's the case there would be no need for 3 different products varrying just by stoarage capacity. OTOH, 3 different products varrying by connectivity makes a whole lot of sense.
Here's a convenient template for responses to this thread:
Yahoo! I'm most definitely getting one. Just as long as it's better than __sliced bread_________, has ___a toaster___________ and can do _____situps_________ and costs less than ____underwear________ and is made of awesome hardware.

Anyone wanna try and photoshop this up to what it may actually look like? You could use the keyboard we saw last week to try to match it up. I can't wait!!!
At this point, the only thing that excites me about a palmPad is that, if it sells well, then more webOS users = more developers jumping on board. I think I would only buy one of these if I could get it for around $100 which isn't going to happen. I think for the price, these "pads" everyone is releasing are lacking in many areas. You could pay a little more and get a full featured notebook with a decent video card for gaming.
I'm VERY skeptical about those specs. They claim it's thinner than the iPad (possibly but no other company has done this yet) AND .4 pounds LIGHTER than the iPad! That is a HUGE difference.
If those specs are true, this tablet will be incredible and for once, it'll actually be a device that truly can compete with an iOS device. Still skeptical that it's true...
I think it is totally plausible that it is thinner. Expect the iPad to be announced at a similar timeframe with the same specs.... that's the way this works.

Thinner...yes it's possible. The same size screen AND and HDMI out AND .4 pounds lighter? VERY unlikely.
