When I try to install an app from preware why do some error?
I get "error installing: see IPKG log"
look at the log and I see,
    unable to run command: /usr/bin/curl -s -l --user-agent Preware --location --fail --show-error http://www.webosnation.com/sites/web....0.2_all_0.ipk 2>&1

curl60)SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK. Details:

I just went thru parts 1 & 2 about coming back to webos 2014, installing all the patches and feeds.
Only one of them did not install.
I even booted up WOSQI 4.6.0 and some apps just flash on the screen " connecting" and then nothing was installed.
Even when I drop an ipk in the install folder and pick it manually, same thing.
    What am I missing?

    Thank you, Kurt.

I assume the URL is just a typo, as it should be http://www. and not http://ww.

Is it possible that patches are loading fine but the app ipks do not load properly, for some reason?

unfortunately I have not been able to reproduce this issue (either on my touchpad or on a veer). So it's difficult to say anything useful.

So, the only direction to a solution I can give is based on the error message: curl: (60)SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK. - I did a quick search online and found the following two links concerning said message:

It might give you an idea to solve this issue.

    Good luck!

EDIT: The certificate link in the first reference is broken. So I did a quick search on Github and found:
    https://github.com/hotwatermorning/curl-ca-bundle
and https://github.com/msysgit/msysgit (which is the new location to the repository mentioned in the first reference; although I couldn't find the certificate in there...only references to it).

I don't know why I did not catch this before, but I set the time and date after starting the phone up after a long hibernation.
Did some testing and pulled the battery a couple of times and did not see that the date and time were off again.
I set the date and time and WOSQI and Preware works!
How did I not see that, although it has been a few years since I used the phone.
Thank you all for the suggestions and help. To anyone coming back to WebOS, put at the top of your trouble shooting list, check you date and time. What a maroon I am...

I had a similar experience. Received the "error installing" messages, but then 'suddenly' it worked. I wouldn't be surprised if I had noticed and changed the date amidst the chaos, but had no idea it was related to the error. Good to know - thanks!
