Hi Folks, I just turned on my Pre 3 and so I am at the very beginning and could use your help with
1. DTA I cant do it and need to link my phone to my gmail account.
2. The apps catalog (spelled with 2 g's?) and a bunch of apps either have a black dot on them or a hazard sign for not installing
Any and all suggestions, leads tips and so on are appreciated, thanks!

Welcome to the forums. Your phone was barely released in 2011, when webOS was effectively cancelled.

To get full use from the Pre3 you will need to put in some work to update the system, services and apps it uses.
Regarding the DTA, as I recall, this is only to move data from a PalmOS device to webOS in a one-time operation. If this is the case for you, please be specific about what the actual problem is to get the correct advice. If you aren't transferring from PalmOS, you don't need to bother with it.

The official app catalogue problem maybe due to the expiration of the security certificate last year. This needs to be updated.

I've been having problems getting my security certificates to stay attached for my emails. And, I've been having problems getting two apps from VivaLV, Shopping Manager and Data Manager, to load. I'm going to try the suggestions above and if that doesn't work, I have been contemplating wiping my phone and starting over.
