According to a mini-article on pdabuzz (that unfortunately is literally content-free at the time of this post - it's broke - so no link) a class-action suit has been filed about carrier-locked cellphones claiming that they violate antitrust statutes, especially now that number portability IS the law of the land.

If this one gets won by the plaintiffs it means no more locked phones.

That's pretty interesting. Makes sense. Hopefully they have a strong case.... with number portability the validity of locking phones does seem to diminish.

I'd like to read that article, I'm sure if it's true it will show up on other sites as well. We'll see!
