I got a rather odd text message last night:

    From: 66075
    Date: 2/20/06 4:32 pm

Please use the following URL to
download your digital media (I left off the rest for safety)

The URL contained my Treo phone number plus a bunch of other variables.

    Anyone else seen this?

    Sprint Treo 650

I have seen something similar. I emailed back that this Treo belonged to a member of the FCC senior management team and all further texts wouldn't be tolerated and how i would bring their whole organization down.

Needless to say, I never saw it again.

those numbers remind me of an AOL TXT Message, your AOL is not linked to AIM is it?

This is actually sanctioned by you carrier. You can opt out if you want. But they have permission by you provider to spam, and bill using there services

how fortuitous i came across this thread. I get 2 or 3 spam text messages a night, in fact it wakes my wife and I up. I just changed the sms ring to a lower volume since I very very rarely use sms.

r u saying that I can tell verizon to prevent spam messages somehow, or just that i can turn off sms?
