    Hey Everybody,
I have an uncle who lives in Australia who wants a Treo (600 or 650) after coming to Hawaii to visit family.
He checked around locally (in Australia) and found they are really expensive there. He wanted to know if he could buy an unlocked 600 or 650 here in the states or off eBay and use it there. Some of the carriers he spoke about use sim cards (gsm?).
Is it as simple as putting in an Australian SIM card into an unlocked Treo?
    Has anyone done this?
He would really appreciate all the help.

    Alan

My 600 was purchased on ebay from florida - unlocked gsm - it arrived, i put in a Vodafone sim - bingo ,worked magically well.
I then purchased my 650 in Oz and can put ANY sim into it,so ergo, yes he can.

Make sure it is actually unlocked. I spent an extra $150 to get a unlocked 650 from Palm rather than mess around with unlocking a Cingular phone. I didn't want a brick when I got back to Australia.

Also let him check out AUSPUG.org the Australian Palm User Group.
They have a good relationship with palm and allways get special deals...
Also they keep track of there to get the best deals on palms down under..
