I called an orange business store who claimed it was released today, they are expecting stock on Wednesday.

nobody at orange seems to have a clue which is disappointing but not altogether unsurprising. One store seems to say one thing and another store something else. Looks like the internet retailers may beat orange to it again, I got my 600 from mobileshop as they had them in stock about a month before the orange shop in edinburgh in october 2003

You know what? It's a simple race now between Orange/PalmOne with the Treo 650 and Vodafone/Nokia 7710.

I know the 7710 is out but as I've re-requested my PAC code from Vodafone they often follow up with a call to see what they can do. If they offer me the 7710 at a decent price then Orange/PalmOne will have just lost another customer!

I'm sure this is a conspiracy?

Everywhere i turn there are signs of the Treo 650.

I saw this on my way to work again today!

Ha Ha, got it. It's the Yellow Cab Easter egg thing, but in real life
    Thought of the day :
No sense being pessimistic, it probably wouldn't work anyway

And now, if you go to orange.co.uk and look for all upgrade phones made by Palmone you get a message that says:

"Sorry, but no phones or devices were found.
Please use the menus provided to select another option."

    Deep joy. f**kwits.

    zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
im so bored waiting... this has to be the most pathetic launch of a product ever. no one knows anything - would it be so hard for Orange to say that the launch date has been delayed for XYZ reason? or palm to sell it directly? its a phone - not a gift from God - yet it seems a miracle if we ever get one!!!!!

Still no concrete news from Orange. However I recieved the Orange
Business Solutions May 2005 price list by email today which says

    "Treo 650 Launches
We are delighted to announce that the Treo 650 will launch towards the
end of May. This device not only provides an ideal platform for line of
business applications developed for the Palm OS, but also offers
excellent voice/Talk Now functionality aswell as Bluetooth connectivity.

A key advantage of the Treo 650 is that it is able to run the Active
Synch client, enabling users of Exchange 2003 to synchronise their
calendar/contacts and email whilst on the move.* Also available at the
end of May will be the Orange Office Freedom client for this device
which offers another great email/pim solution.

*please note that the experience beyond Active Synch will be standard
Palm OS and not Pocket PC.

The current car kit option for this device is the Sony Ericsson Bluetooth
    car kit - HCB 300."

Pricing - OBS sets prices which you typically get a credit against on a business account. The extract below shows how the 650 is set to proced agaisnt other high end phones:

I hope this helps people keep hanging on. I emailed Palm One yesterday saying I found it hard to believe that a 2 major international companies (them & Orange) could be so abysmal in how they have failed to co-ordinate delivery of the 650 in the UK market. If it isn't out by the end of the month I might just get another Nokia.

This is a bit of hope - however, we have got our hopes up so much before that I am hesistant to let myself believe it!

    Thanks again for sharing it.

    T O W A R D S T H E E N D O F M A Y ? ? ?

What are they doing to us!
Will they ever release this thing?
  12. #252
    Right - sweepstake time!

I'm increasingly pessimistic so I reckon (here's the rules):
    - In Orange shops (even business only)
    AND/OR
    - Purchaseable on the web via Orange (must be deliverable within 48 hours!)

    On Tuesday 31 May!

(Winner gets the chance to purchase a Treo650 - no hang on, we all do!)

I rang orange just now and its true the Treo 650 has been launched. It was available yesterday but they only did an information drop to staff this morning. I have mine on pre-order with a web supplier but they haven't had their stock from orange yet (they've been told orange are out of stock). I may have to wait until next week

I rang Orange on number 150 and I chose the options to talk to someone about leaving Orange. They let me have a Treo 650 as a free upgrade. I started by asking for a PAC code but I don't think that made much difference.

I couldn't get anything off the tariff although the 4.00 discount remains.

Delivery in the next couple of days. I'll post when it arrives.

Hurrah! I just noticed the Orange web site has now been changed and it offers the Treo 650 for 199.99. Looks like you did well to get it for free!

I'm wanting to transfer from Voda so I doubt I will be able to do anything but pay 199.99 unless anyone knows any better.

    Toby.

Better than I did. Can't get any reduction on the 349. That's what comes of being on the tenner a month tarrif I guess. Not sure what my options are to get it any cheaper. I might see if I can buy one over the counter tomorrow - there are a couple of business stores near work.

    Max
