    Hi,
Am travelling to Germany for around 3 weeks...and would love to use Google Maps, Email etc with my Treo 680 whilst there.

I was thinking it might be a good idea to buy a Pre Paid SIM with a local carrier that includes data etc. That way I'd have email and Internet access on the road.

Has anyone had any experience with any German or European carriers that offer some good options for Data and calls in this short term context.

    Thanks!

Just got back from there a month ago. After checking the options at http://www.prepaidgsm.net/ I ended up going with an Aldi Talk card that can be had at the ubiquitous Aldi stores. AKA Medion Mobile.

One thing about most European countries is that data is not cheap. This one was € 0.24/MB.

Check out prepaidgsm's listings, and make sure to check out their forums, as well; they are quite helpful over there.

[EDIT] If you don't speak German, the SIM registration process could be daunting. Best to have someone help you, or be prepared to do a lot of on line translating from their web page.

T-Mobile PAYG is great in the UK (GBP1.00 for browsing all day), so it might be a good idea to check it out in Germany.
