I am assuming you meant postwhoring. again what does it matter? hi post count gets you NOTHING. If people want to ***** for NOTHING what does it matter? There is NO benefit to having a high post count. Doesnt even change your stupid title.
Face you guys dont like the fact that most or at least a signifigant portion of the daily activity occurs in OT. cheapens tc's value. And wastes precious bandwidth. Maybe next there will be a charge to post in OT. Seems like you guys are just legislating the fun out of this place.

Beyond that there is no valid reason to do this. If there is, I'd like to see it.

Another thing that struck me as funny in all this. On almost every forum I visit there is a display of

    xxxxx posts
    in xxxxx topics
    by xxxxx users

This tells people that the place is highly trafficked and there are lots of folks and possibly lots of answers. It seems by eliminating OT post count TC is doing the old "shooting oneself in the foot". I have yet to run acrossed any user on any forum saying " ya they have lots of post but they are all OT so I'm leaving". Now thats not saying it doesnt happen, do you really think that is the majority? It's not like daThomas and Claire and Insertion and many of us other OT regulars are out in the regular forums helping noobs. Not that we havent. I think all of us have, but we come to TC for the community and the comradery of the OT. Admit it, that's what youre trying to kill. You consider us loiterers and you want that to stop.

if it's not just eliminate the valueless post count altogether.

No, I don't mean your posts in OT. I meant your posts in the Moderators forum. You know, that forum the rest of us don't see.

Now, you reread my post, and tell me who's on too much double latte'!

Ah, I do need a coffee indeed.. friday afternoon and all..
Not sure about that forum, but it might be since it is outside the OT section and the count freeze in only in OT...

But dont worry, we don't gossip about you that much that it realy would be significant

If someone wanted to increase post count they could easily enough go to an "offical" thread and agree with every suggestion given to a question, add an In My Opinion thought, reword what was posted already etc.

Post count means absolutely nothing. I visited this forum for over a year before I posted and did not look at who had what post count, gained lots of valuable info, and decided to purchase a 650 because of the comments on this forum. The action that was taken looks to me like someone needed to feel important and came up with this rule to let us all know they have power. Sorry if I stepped on someones toes, but that is what it looks like to me.

What I don't seem to understand is, if post counts are no big deal then why the hell is the fun being taken away? I mean, if post counts don't mean squat, then why would it matter if posts don't count in OT? No one said you can't post such and such a topic in OT?

Directed at the general groaners: I guess if post count did not matter to some of you, like some you claim, you would not be in here belly aching, and would just let it ride.

If youre going to minimize some of the posts as far as count go why not just do away with them all. I think vbvbvb $allows$ $for$ $that$.

At least in most forums your post count changes your member label changes. Here youre a member from post one. So what does it matter?
I'm a moderator at Spymac.com and I have long thought that doing away with post count would be a great thing. You wouldnt believe some of the reasons people came up with to tell me what a bad idea that was. My favorite was "People would have no incentive to post if it wasnt for a post count."

Because it isnt beneficial to the site or the community. Its just more filler, and no one needs that.

One of the best solutions I have seen was the post count only goes to 1000. This way the newbs are easily identifiable and the more senior members are spotted by "+1000" next to their name.

Well clearly it is a big deal to you since it was your suggestion that started the change. And if it WAS a big deal to me I'd be *****ing about it in a forum that counted.

I dont care. It just seems to me to be a ridiculous action with no discernable benefit to anyone.

I am groaning as you put it because it was an action that resulted in nothing for no apparent logical reason. Why was it done? Because the organization felt the need to throw their weight around a bit. Look how powerful we are!

It should be pretty evedint to a bright guy like you that it doesnt matter to me. I am still posting away in the OT forum am I not?

I don't think it was the Powers That Be. Sure they implemented it, but I don't think it was their lead.
