However you can setup your own search to get the same result.
I'd be interested in a search string if you have one. I actually tried the advance search last night, to try and help gfunk out. I highlighted all forums, except OT. Show all since "Your Last Visit." However you still need to enter a word or user. What word would you use? I figured "the" is probably as common as it gets, but of course "the" is "too common, too short," etc. Fine, I use "th*" instead, but get an internal error message.

I'm trying to find that out.. this issue has been discussed in the past and I remember there was a way around it.. just can't find that post anymore

I guess one way would be to use tr* and since last post. pretty much any post would have 'treo' in it..

That seems to be a bug, I think you have the right idea though..
I've asked the admins to look into that error..

Am I missing something on how to save the search once you find the right keyword? If the search can't be saved, for me at least, setting up the search each time I come to TC isn't as easy as clicking on New Post and just ignoring the forums I'm not interested.

Let's not forget that you can click on a forum and "Mark this forum as Read". I've done this and it's cleaned up some of the clutter.

But I'd still like the option of marking a thread as "Read"

Insertion, that error sounds like a message from searching on a generic term ("th") and taking too long/too many hits. I don't think the forum software does what you want. Sorry.

I agree, in that being what the error message is...too many hits.

    Mobile with no Off Topic

Can someone try this and report back if it skips the Off Topic Forum?

    Thanks.

It works fine from the desktop...

    On the Treo, all I get is a vBvBvB $error$: &$quot$;$Sorry$ - $no$ $matches$. $Please$ $try$ $some$ $different$ $terms$.&$quot$;

Here you go. But it will only work with version 3.5. It looks like we are using 3.0.3

None taken. I do my heavy lifting elsewhere. T|C OT is light reading only. Good luck in your quest!

That works, but it's the main site, not the mobile. The correct URL for the mobile is:

Yeah, I'm waaaaay left and want OT to stay! It's actually just another right-wing conspiracy.

Admin shows the latest version as 3.0.8. Perhaps 3.5 is the latest beta?

Either way, I believe the major premise of this thread has a resolution in one of the links above.

There is a way the users can check new postings without going reading through the Off Topic Forum.
