    For example see this thread

re: Can VersaMail save save email to SD card?
    http://discuss.treocentral.com/showthread.php?t=92788

If you're going to respond, even if you're going to chastise the poster, at least answer, otherwise don't respond.. Let someone that knows the answer chastise them and point them in the right direction. (not to mention, others look at these to find out interesting stuff)

I see this all the time on this board.. At least link to the thread that answers the question.

What's your question about 650 hardware? Otherwise this is the wrong forum.

    The problem is 2fold:
-Newbies asking things that have been asked many times before
    -Oldskoolers who respond rudely/unhelpfully.

It can be solved by newbies using a search first and oldtimers being more polite/helpfull.

also when the wiki get up and running hopefully that will take away a lot of newbie questions, but not all, there always will be people who are too lazy to search.
Given that fact of life I ask people to ignore those posts and not respond rudely.
Use the red triangle and the mods can take action if needed.

the problem is the expectation of immediate service prior to having contributed to the community, ie 8 posts and one of them is a little caustic.

this is not meant to be a shot at the original poster, just my vent on life in general.....

If it's direction your looking for, make a right, go south about 2 or 3 www's and ask VERSAMAIL what their software will and won't do.

Then make a short left and RTFM!
Not to be rude but this HAS been covered, if you search deep enough.

The reason I told him that was because threads were being locked for being posted in the wrong section:
    http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...ad.php?t=92742

    http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...ad.php?t=92735

    http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...ad.php?t=92781

And you'll note, the thread you're so uptight about was also locked. Not only that, but there have been several threads that have been merged into similar exsiting threads. Also there are the new threads that are started in the wrong forum, but moved....you know, like this one?

What was so offensive about my response to him? I was trying to point out that it was in the wrong location, sort of "Look out..."

Since I'm not a Moderator here, all I can do is report threads and let the poster know it's in the wrong forum, its been discussed, etc...

    Get it??

Thank you. I will edit the above comment.

Of course he did subtly refer to me as an ***** with his link, which led to my comment..

I think the bottom line is some of us use our own initiative to look at the help files, manuals, or research our problems on the Internet or especially, TreoCentral. Some people are either lazy and don't want to do that, or they don't know how. It is similar to our modern-day society where many people want things given to them instead of working for themselves.

It would've really been something if you could've dropped a "I'm just taking it one day at a time" or "I'm here for the team" in there somewhere as well.
