Since the mods won't give us a Wiki section, I figured I'd give ourselves a lil push! You suggest, and I edit the original post.

First, just help organize this outline until everybody's content and THEN we'll work on the details. Details are defined as the very LAST level, which would include lengthy writing of a couple sentences.

    Thanks,
    grndslm

It's not that we don't want to... it's that we can't. We don't handle any of the site programming. A TC Wiki has been discussed at great length. I'm not sure why we don't have one yet, but maybe someday...

Well...any tips on how to organize this sucka any better....and/or what accessories and apps need to be listed...are greatly appreciated.

Also, how do you make indentions show up?? That way I wouldn't need to space everything so far apart to be easier to distinguish when each level begins/ends.

I'm about to leave for a few hours, so I won't be updating this 'til tonight.

I believe there even was a beta to test it at one stage.. hopefully that day comes soon..
Would be nice to have a place to point the newbie questions to..

You can use the LIST tag. Help on all vbCode tags can be found here.

There is a wiki that has been in testing (currently down for some reason). Michael was working on getting all the backend stuff working right. I'll chase him on it for the status.

Yeah, there's like 101,346,349 wiki's out on the net, pick one related and put this on it.

Actually, there's only 54,900,000 according to Google. And I don't know where you'd want to put what, but hope you figure it out.

Gracias, senor! I'm sure that page will come in helpful for the future. I wish I knew it was there earlier.

But, I've got two more questions for you now.

    (1) Do you have a time frame for this wiki section you're talking about?? Because I don't see why there hasn't been a thread started where one person or all the mods or somebody just edits it. It'd be easy enough to track stuff and you just put everything on the first post. You don't really need programming for that, do you?? You'd just need a working forum, which we've already got.

    (2) Why in the heck would you guys move this to the TreoCentral.com section. This doesn't have anything to do with TreoCentral dot com. I'm not requesting that you add a wiki. This is the general reference point for Treo 650 beginners and you move it OUT of the hardware section. I'm not quite following the logic here. There are TWENTY times as many people in the 650 section as there are in the TreoCentral section. I can clearly understand moving most posts outta the 650 section due to being completely off topic, but how is this off topic? I'm really thinking that you guys just don't want this to happen for some reason? What gives??

I mean, if I were a TreoCentral mod, the only place I'd be moving this post is up top of the 650 Hardware section with Sticky status written all over it. But I can only end this with the classic, "to each his own" phrase.

Okay, I'll be the one out of the thousands that want to know.

What the heck is a Wiki?

    What the heck is google?

OMG!!! With those list tags, it really makes me wonder why this wiki hasn't been started sooner. It's soooo easy!! OMG!

What the heck would you need a real wiki for when you've got a forum with an edit function and list tags????

I demand that you move this thread back to the 650 section...or else I'll start a poll and see which section your followers believe this thread belongs in! I'm pretty sure they're not gonna agree on TreoCentral.com

    you demand hey?

Yes I do...do you find my demand unreasonable?

I mean, honestly, tho...what sense does it make to have this thread in the 650 hardware section, but not a grassroots 650 wiki?

    Yes I do.

The topic of this thread went way past being 650 specific. Just because you think a particular thread belongs in a particular forum doesn't make it so.

If you want to create a 650-specific wiki-like thread in the 650 forum, go for it. It needs to remain focused obviously.

Besides that, what ever happened to asking things politely?
Demanding things is something little kids or people in power do, and AFAIKAFAIKAFAIK, $you$ $are$ $neither$..

OK....so, if I make a couple changes, would you PUH-LEEZE move this to the 650 section?

Other than the very last section, "Other cool stuff that everybody should know", it all belongs in the 650 forum. It all relates to the 650. The applications that are 650-specific, not applications in general. The accessories for the 650. The comparison to other phones belongs, IMO. MAYBE the carriers don't....but you know other people are going to ask anyway, why not just leave it there and perhaps move it to the carriers section when it's complete? I could imagine the future Treos don't belong, but it was worth a shot.

Would you be content with just removing the very last two sections??
